Why people look for a UPDF alternative
UPDF is a PDF editor from Superace Software for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, with a separate AI assistant and an e-signature product. It offers editing, OCR, conversion, annotation, forms and page organizing, and sells yearly and lifetime licenses.
Free version has limits
Their pricing page lists a watermark on saved files, 2 conversions a day, a 2-file batch and 5 OCR uses on the free version. We have no daily limits and no watermark.
Add-ons cost extra
AI and e-signature requests are separate paid products. The Lifetime license covers the core editor only.
Installing an app for a quick job
If you only need to merge, split or compress a PDF once, opening a web page is faster than installing an editor.
Beyond PDF
UPDF is PDF-focused. Mediaextractr also trims video, converts audio, handles HEIC and RAW photos, opens RAR files and formats JSON in the browser.
Real recordings, not mock-ups
Each clip was recorded on our live tools. Watch the upload counter in the first one stay at zero.

UPDF alternative: questions
Is there a free alternative to UPDF?
Yes. Mediaextractr offers free PDF tools in your browser with no sign-up, no daily limits and no watermark. It does not edit existing PDF text, run OCR or include AI.
How much does UPDF cost?
Their pricing page shows UPDF Pro at US$49.99 per year (auto-renewing) or US$79.99 for a lifetime license, marked down from US$69.99 and US$99.99. UPDF AI and UPDF Sign are separate plans. Prices change with promotions, so check updf.com.
Is UPDF really free?
You can download a free version, but their pricing page says it adds a trial watermark when you save and limits tools such as conversion (2 a day), batch (2 files) and OCR (5 uses). Paid plans remove the limits.
Does UPDF work online?
UPDF is mainly a desktop and mobile app. Their site lists a web app for the AI assistant. We did not find a full browser-based PDF editor on their pages.
Does UPDF upload my PDFs?
Their privacy policy says PDFs are uploaded to UPDF Cloud when you use UPDF AI. It does not describe how editing or conversion are handled. Mediaextractr never uploads your files.
Does UPDF have a UPDF Sign feature?
Yes, as a separate product with its own yearly and monthly plans. Mediaextractr lets you place your own signature on a PDF, but cannot send documents to others to sign.
